George was born on October 11,1947 on Edisto Island, South Carolina.
After graduating high school from Baptist Hill High School, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served until 1969. He retired from Crown Metal Finishings in 2002.
George was a loving & devoted husband to Rosalin Nelson of 57 years. Together they raised 2 children, daughter Dessie Nelson & son Frederick Meadows. He always offered guidance, unconditional love & support.
George loved to hand dance, play cards, Keno & the lottery. He prided himself on being "THE MAN" of his family. His family admired his strength and respected his advice. He was a patriarch in the Reid-Singelton family.
He enjoyed sharing his knowledge & skill sets with his grandchildren, nieces & nephews. His sense of humor will be cherished.
George departed this world peacefully on January 31,2026 surrounded by his loving family.
Survived by his loving wife Rosalin, children Dessie & Frederick, sister Celestine Cook, Sister in laws: Beverly Younge, Rebecca Huston, Johnnie Singleton (Joe), Addie Nelson (Arthur), Rebecca Nelson (Fred)
7 grandchildren Kayla, Cary, Courtney, Cayden, Alexis, Malai & Velvie, 17 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

George was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Reid, father Cornelius Nelson Sr:

Sisters: Minnie Saunders, Alma Mosley, Eloise Singleton, Thelma Washington, Edith McKelvey, Virginia Campbell, Albertha Nelson & Mary Wright.
