Gary
Moore
September 12, 1966 – November 5, 2024
Gary Moore gained his heavenly wings on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 with his sisters caregiver Janet Moore and his sister Murdise Moore by his side. He was truly our angel on Earth.
Gary was born to Lula Mae Moore and George Newsome Jr. on September 12th, 1966 and was the youngest of eleven siblings. Due to his many health challenges upon birth, Gary was immediately given a grim diagnosis. But by the grace of God and the love and care bestowed upon him by his mother, his sister Janet and our entire family, he was blessed to live 58 years longer than expected and has now returned to his rightful place in heaven. My mother become his caregiver after my grandmother passed away in 1996 and she provided him with an excellent level of care right up until he took his last breath.
Gary was our family's pride and joy! He loved singing, listening music, and was the first one on the dance floor at any gathering that had music. Michael Jackson, Prince, Mary J. Blige and Kirk Franklin were four of his favorite singers. In 2022, he had the opportunity to attend a Mary J. Blige concert and spoke of it often, even in the days before he passed away. Those of you who know him well, know he loved to testify in church. One particular New Years, my mom Janet Moore stepped out of service to tell me that Gary coerced the congregation to join him in singing Purple Rain, and we laugh about that to his day! He also loved to play his bongos at church, loved playing his Nintendo Wii, and spending time with his beloved puppets, Elmo, Grover, Abby and a red and white striped puppet whom he called Joe Biden. These puppets were his best friends.
Gary was loved by all, and had a special bond with each of his brothers, his sisters and with his nieces and nephews. The babies in the family were always drawn to him and they would find solace as he held them on his lap. My Uncle Gary was love personified. He was innocent, he was pure and he exuded love. He was kind and was extremely clean and meticulous. Often he would walk down the hallway, and if the tiniest corner of the rug was turned up, he would quietly bend over and straighten it out, where most would just walk past. He was a beautiful soul, and his smile would light up any room. And he will be missed. Our hearts will forever grieve him, but we have peace because of who he was to all of us.
Gary was preceded in death by his mother Lula Mae Moore, father George Newsome Jr., sister Lobelia Moore, brothers Willie A. Moore Jr., Johnny Lee Moore, James A. Moore and special Uncle Lindsey Foster, uncles Paul Foster, Robert Foster, James Foster and Thomas Foster Sr. He was also preceded in death by aunts Murdiest Foster-Taylor and Rosie Mae Foster.
He leaves behind to cherish his precious memory, his sisters Janet Moore, Betty (Chris) Baron, (Tucson, AZ); Ophelia Moore (Willie) Banks (Toledo, OH), Murdise Moore (Manhattan, NY), Versie (Alex) Watts, and his baby sister Gloria (James) Mason, uncle Elbert (Elbee) Foster, and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends who all loved him. We would also like to give special thanks to Gary's friends from True Deliverance Missionary Baptist Church, Bishop Charles Parmer, Organist Thomas Portis, Minister Fender and Drummer Eric, Deaconesses Irma and Mamie and the True Deliverance Church Family, Dr. Sherrie Wallace, Pam Banks, the staff at Western Reserve Hospital, Hospice of Western Reserve Homecare and Summa Home Care.
