Gail (Tate) Stargen, born on January 13, 1965, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Gail was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love touched the lives of many.
Gail was preceded in death by her father, James "BoJack" Tate; her mother, Josephine Tate; her sister, Patricia Spriggs, her niece, Tracy Spriggs; and her beloved granddaughter, Reja Sistrunk.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband, Ernest Stargen, with whom she shared a life filled with love, dedication, and cherished memories.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Shereece (Gary) Garrett, Karri Tate (Denver Ladd), Shanel Tate, and Taija Tate. She was also a loving stepmother to Eljoree Austin (Ray), Lashawn Wright, Sharonda, and Dante Jones.
Gail was a proud grandmother to Jamarius Tate, Davon Burton, Lamier Garrett (Jayla), Dayjour Garrett (Jenelle), Darius Garrett, Jayion Tate, Tae'Jean Averette, Alasia Tate, and Amari Randle. She was blessed to become a great-grandmother to Ar'Miyah Tate, Kashton Garrett, and June Garrett. She also leaves behind a host of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
She held a special place in her heart for Sienna McCole, Terez Averette, Demetra Baity (Cory), Robert Ross, and Cortney Curtis. She was also a loving godmother to her Godson, Courtney Marshall.
Gail's life was enriched by the love and friendship of Pam Ross, Robin Broyles, Evette Broyles, Dale Mills, Susan Solomon, and Ruby Massey. She shared a special bond with her sisters at heart, Kim Whitehurst (Tomier) Davenport, Stacey Walker and Betty Mills.
She is survived by her siblings: Moyenda (Effe) Hashim, Tyrone Brooks, William Tate, Keith Massey, Karen Tate, and Debbie Tate, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. She also leaves behind many beloved in-laws from the Dixon and Stargen families.
A faithful woman of God, Gail was a member of New Greater Peace Church, where she found strength, fellowship, and spiritual guidance. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she cherished her longtime friend, Elder Val Graham, whose wisdom, encouragement, and friendship were a blessing to her throughout the years.
Gail's legacy of love, compassion, and devotion to family will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends."Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near.
