Ms. Florence Easter Carnathan, age 96, of Fort Washington, Maryland, departed this life on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 Florence E. Carnathan was born on November 2, 1925 to Lula Bryant in Monroeville, Alabama. As a child she was affectionally called "Baby Doll." On May 25, 1944, she married the love of her life, Tommie Lee Carnathan of Butler, Alabama. In 1946, the couple migrated to Youngstown, Ohio. Florence accepted Christ as her personal savior and joined the Jerusalem Baptist Church in 1947. In 1966, she transferred her church membership to the New Bethel Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, homemaker, and mother. In 2015, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease and moved to Maryland to be closer to her daughters. She attended the Camp Springs Senior Activity Center and the Helping Hands Adult Day Care Center. She enjoyed playing Bingo, dominos, card games and participating in group activities. She attended the annual Alzheimer's Association walks and was a honorary member of Team Carnathan. Florence Carnathan leaves to cherish her memories and to carry on her legacy one son, Johnnie Carnathan of Youngstown; three daughters, Bettye Carnathan, Joann Carnathan and Lynda Williams (Johnnie) all of Maryland; one nephew (that she reared), Benjamin McCarter (Sharon) of Florida, 16 grandchildren, 41 greatgrandchildren, 44 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends. Ms. Carnathan was preceded in death by her mother, Lula Bryant; husband, Tommie Carnathan Sr.; son, Tommie Carnathan Jr.; step-son, Charles Henry, sisters, Pearl O'Cain and Fannie Howell; brothers, Willie, Robert, David, Hubert and Charlie Bryant, and Johnnie Matthews; daughter in-law, Deborah Wilkerson; and grandson, Calvin Carnathan. Family and friends wishing to honor Florence Carnathan are invited to make a donation to the 2022 Walk to End Alzheimer's, Prince George's County, Maryland, in the name of Team Carnathan
