Evelyn Marie Simmons was born on June 30, 1968, in Akron, Ohio to the late Christine Marie Jones and Everett Lee Robinson. She was called to eternal rest on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.

Evelyn graduated from Garfield High School, and she then furthered her education by attending Omni Technical Hair School.

Evelyn loved being a mother and grandmother. Her nurturing spirit and love were pure, patient, kind and protective. Wherever she went, they were always there with her, whether physically or in conversation. They meant the world to her.  She enjoyed sleepovers and movie nights with her grandchildren.

Evelyn was a true 'Boss Lady.' She was a business owner and one of the city's hottest hair stylists – hair was her passion! She enjoyed changing up her own hairstyles, every time you saw her, she had a different look. She owned and operated a hair salon in Firestone Park until a car accident cut her career short in 2002. She was also fashionable, with her blinged out long nails and eyelashes.

Ones of Evelyn's favorite things to do was going on car rides, with the windows down, music loud, beats bumping and hands in the air, saying "Heyyyy, this is my jam!" while the wind blew through her hair.

Evelyn was always decorating and changing the décor in her home. You never knew what you would see when you walked through her doors, but what you did know is that it would be beautiful. She also enjoyed cooking and feeding those whom she loved. If you came to her home, you knew you were going to eat good, laugh, listen to good music, and then take a nap because you would be full from her feeding you all day. Evelyn also enjoyed spending time with her Shih Tzu puppy, Ms. Pretty, and enjoyed walking and spending time at Firestone Park.

Evelyn truly missed her mother, and now they are together again. But most importantly, Evelyn loved the Lord and now she's resting eternally in heaven.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her mother Christine Marie Jones, father Everett Lee Robinson, grandparents Adeline Elizabeth Jones and Earl Jones, sibling Candy Ramsey; aunt, Rita H. Davis; and brother-in-law Timmy Moore.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Ruben Simmons, III and Rienez Karen Marie Simmons (Tyrone Phinnessee); grandchildren, Ruben Simmons, IV, Rah'Myier Simmons, Raniya Simmons, Sy'aerea Simmons, Rahmar Simmons, and Rayonna Simmons. Special grand-nephew Donald Casey, Jr.; siblings Sharon (Lisa) Jones-Moore, Donald Casey, Anthony Robinson, Evette Robinson and Alexis Johnson; God children Tarkiesha Banks, Royalty Allison and Amir Peak; aunts and uncles, Demerius Peacock, Earl Jones and Paris DeVon; eleven nephews, ten nieces, and a host of family and friends. Former spouse and life-long friend Ruben Simmons, and best friends Amelia Mosley and Patricia Stubbs.
