Evelyn L. Gillespie, born July 7, 1944 to Percy V. and Josephine Gillespie, Sr., transitioned surrounded by family and loved ones on June 27, 2024. Evelyn attended Market Ave. S. and Lathrop elementary schools; and was a graduate of McKinley Senior High School.

Evelyn worked various jobs and retired from Republic LTV Steel. She was known for her famous fish fry's and family gatherings—everyone was always welcomed.

Evelyn was a remarkable woman, known for her strength, big heart and dedication to loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents; special aunt, Julia "Jukie" Simmons; her son, Manuel Gillespie; and daughter, Angelia Goodman. She was also preceded in death by Ronald L. "Skeet" Gillespie, Carlos Walker, Brandon M. Gillespie, Sandra DeGraffinreid and Travinna Simmons.

Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Paulette Robinson; sons, Pierre Gillespie, Tony (Charmaine) Goodman and Jesse Gillespie; along with Percy V. Jr. (Diane) Gillespie, Ebony N. Gillespie, Hozzie Darnell Gillespie, Ronald Gillespie, Jr., Denise Stokes-Gillespie, Derrick, Kim, Michelle, Shalita, Candice, Kevin; grandchildren; great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, family and friends. Evelyn touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
