Obituary

Emma (Tucker) Black departed this earthly life on December 5, 2021, at Cleveland Clinic hospital.  Emma was born in Akron, Ohio on September 13, 1947 to Emma and Dorsey Tucker.  Emma graduated from North High School in 1966.  Emma also graduated from The University of Akron with an associate in community service in 1994.   She received her undergraduate degree in Social work in 1996.   She also started working towards her graduate degree in Public Aid Urban studies-completing 4 courses.

Emma worked at Western Reserve, Children's Service Board, Green Leaf Family Services and Department of Job and Family Service.  Emma finished her professional career at Department of Job and Family Service with an 11 year tenure.

Emma was a lifelong member of Abundant Life Center of Eternal Truth under the direction of Rev. Paul E. Joiner.  Emma loved the Lord and accepted him at an early age.  Months before her stroke, Emma completed her classes and was ordained to be a minister.  She served her church completing the bulletin board for 20 plus years.  She served her community as a volunteer at St. Vincent St Mary high school, board member for Safe and Drug free schools and  board member for Abundant Life Center of Eternal Truth.

Emma loved working with people and had a gift of being a great listener with a benevolent nature.  Emma's love for her family, friends and community will forever be cherished.

Life changed on December 16, 2010 after Emma had a massive stroke.  Emma's care became her family's main priority.  Emma lived at home with her daughter until her transition.  The family would like to thank Visiting Physicians Association; nurse practitioner Lucy Jury; her assistant Levi, Nancy Wareham, Barbara (Strickland) Tucker, Lynette Williams and Jean Morgan-Mitchell.

Emma is preceded in death by her parents; Emma (Bell) Tucker and Dorsey Tucker, Mother-in-law; Sarah Gurley; Father-in-law; James Black, daughter; Robin Tucker-Oliver son; Jamar Black, brothers; Curtis Tucker, Dorsey (Lucille) Tucker Sr. and John (Margaret) Tucker, grandson; Wesley  Allen Tucker Jr., granddaughter; Brittany Bennet, Aunt; Ruth (Jake) Rice; Uncles;  Jackie Bell, John Bell; Sister-in-laws, Karen Johnson, Special friend; William (Big Will) Hadden, Special cousin; Arthur Bell, lifelong friend; Gwen Clisby. Leaving  to mourn her loss; her husband; Wesley Black Sr., her children, daughter; LaTeesha "Tish" Black, Wesley (Lavina) Black Jr., nephew-son; Donnie Lollar, Sister-in-law;  Barbara (Strickland) Tucker; Gwendolyn (James) Shorpshire, Cheryl (William) Richardson, Vanzi Wright, Vonzi Anderson; Brother-in-laws; Joseph Gurley and James Gurley, Grand children;  Imiya Black, Imari Hubbard-Black, Zakori Wilkins, Alan Black, Blessing Black, Cerinity Black, King Wesley Black, Shylynn Black, Great-grandchildren Lo'Gan, Tegan, Kei'Gan; her lifelong friends, Pearl Harris, Roma Threatt, Reberta Harmon and a host of other family, friends and relatives.
