Emma J. Hamilton-Shropshire was born on June 30 1934 in Russellville, Alabama to the late Thom and Alice Smith. On April 6, 2023 she was called to her Eternal Home of Rest at the blessed age of 88.
She confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of The Greater Bethel Baptist Church.
She loved her family dearly. She loved going to church, taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, serving on the usher board for many years, taught Bible classes to preschoolers and loved playing bingo.
Emma was preceded in death by her daughter, Nettie Hamilton; parents, Thom and Alice Smith; brothers, James (Helen) Nelson, Thomas (Hattie) Smith, Jake (Gracie Mae) Smith, Odell Smith, Welford Smith and Emmit (Barbara) Smith; sisters, Willie D. (J.T.) Beecher, Mattie (Walter) McGowan, Margie (Herman) Smith, Betty (Raymond) Watson, and Joanne (Joe) Mills; daughter-in-law, Rosalind Hamilton; granddaughter, Da'Shaun Clepper; and great granddaughter, Maria Nash.
She leaves to forever cherish her beloved memory, husband, Willie Shropshire; her devoted son, Harold D. Hamilton; sister, Myrtle Person; sister-in-law, Minnie Joe Fikes; grandchildren, Kevin and David Hamilton and Whitney (Joesph) Humphrey all of Akron, Ohio; 13 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
