Elizabeth Jackson's Obituary

Elizabeth Jackson was born on December 9, 1929 in Americus, Georgia to Henry Gordon and Dora Drake. She was the oldest of 5 children. Elizabeth was married to Roy E. Jackson over 50 years and together had 6 children. Elizabeth and Roy moved to Ohio in the early 1950's. She loved her family and worked hard to provide a loving home. She had many extended children that looked to her like a mother. Her subservient spirit and selfless acts of kindness had no boundaries. If you had a need, Elizabeth would do all she could to assist and most importantly, if you wanted some of her famous biscuits, she had no problem putting a batch or 2 in the oven. Every holiday we had plenty of good food and great family & friend's time. Elizabeth was a faithful member of Bethel CME Church under the leadership of Elder Bruce Gibson. She was a member of the Senior Choir and the kitchen committee. Elizabeth attended and graduated from Americus High School. Elizabeth loved cooking and worked in the culinary industry, retiring from the Canton Club. Elizabeth was a pillar of her community. She knew everyone in the neighborhood and they, in turn, knew her. Elizabeth was a member of a walking club; though we never saw anyone walking. My sisters would say mom is going to her Eating meeting. And when she was not "walking", she would be busy driving someone to the store or taking food to someone. Elizabeth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and long life friend who will be greatly missed. Elizabeth was proceeded in death by her husband Roy E. Jackson: her parents, Henry and Dora, sister; Lilly Mae Pace: Brother: Adolph, Freddie, and Leonard Gordon: Son-in-law: Donald Dickerson-Shakir. Elizabeth leaves to celebrate a life well lived and to cherish her memories: Her loving children: Luecile Westbrook, Clarence (Deborah) Jackson, Taviatha (Joseph) James, James Jackson, Arqulia (Jerry) Bowers, and Holly Jackson. Grandchildren: Arthur, Alicia, Shania Tibbs, Jessica Pifer, Julian Jackson, Shayla Kindell, Niesha Hill, Kameron Ross, Maxwell Cox, Nashid Dickerson, Justin Dickerson-Shakir, Justina Dickerson-Shakir, and L'Oreal Byrd. Her great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and friends. Special friends Naz Phillips and James Jackson.
