Eleanor Caruthers Holland, affectionately known as "Pootney", was born on October 9, 1925, in Barberton, Ohio to the late Buck and Shular Rackley.
Eleanor attended Washington School and Barberton High School. She moved to Cleveland, Ohio in the early sixties. Eleanor worked as a care provider for many families. She also worked at Ford Motor Co. She was a member of Community Holiness Church in Barberton, Ohio. In Cleveland she met and married Lewis Holland, who was the love of her life. Together they enjoyed traveling and being active members at Lee Road Baptist Church.
She was effortlessly stylish. Eleanor enjoyed bowling, shopping, cooking, bingo, and the casino.
At 100 years, Eleanor departed this life at Canterbury Senior Care Facility on November 6, 2025, leaving a legacy of strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family.
In addition to her parents, Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Holland; children, Garfield Rackley, Richard (Mamie) Rackley, Juanita Kirkwood; grandchildren, Garfield Rackley Jr. and Clayton Dukes; siblings, William Rackley, Robert Rackley, Mamie, Lucille, Maude, Bessie, Emma, and Essie Mae.
She is survived by her sister, Gertha Boyd. She leaves a legacy of Yvonne Quarterman, Andrew Charles Dukes Sr., and Cassandra Dukes of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren, Ricky Rackley, Page Rackley, and Melissa Rackley-Graves (Lewis), Ginger Mobley (David) Troy, Trinetta, Lynn Rackley, Elaine Henderson, Sederick Dukes, James Quarterman, Vanessa Hinkel (Henry), Kimberly Quarterman, Andre Quarterman, Michelle Kirkwood, Dana Kirkwood, Andrew Dukes Jr., David (Evette) Dukes, William (Natalie) Dukes, Sheryl Clarke, Dawnn Dukes, Kenneth (Cheryl) Dukes, and Kirtis (Christina), as well as a host of great, and great, great grandchildren.
Throughout her century of life, she touched countless hearts with her wisdom, humor, and unwavering love. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, and her presence was a pillar of strength for all who knew her. She lived a life filled with grace, faith, and dignity, and her memory will continue to live on through the many generations she nurtured. Her family and loved ones mourn her deeply, yet they rejoice in knowing she has entered eternal rest, surrounded by the ancestors who went before her. May her soul rest in everlasting peace.
