Rev. Edward Lamar Dixon's Obituary

Rev. Edward Lamar Dixon departed this life on October 8, 2025 at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Medical Center after a tumultuous illness. He was born December 30, 1952 to the union of Ezekiel and Lula Mae Dixon. His early education was completed in Chicago Public schools. He attended Washburn Culinary Institute. He then attended Bishop College in Dallas, Texas where he graduated with honors in 1974. He received his Education Degree at the University of Akron and Kent State University. Vocationally he worked for five-star hotels and hospitals. As a mentor at Washington High with the Jobs for Ohio Graduates Program. He also worked at Buckeye Career Center in New Philadelphia, Ohio as the Jogs Instructor and later as the Culinary Arts Instructor. He was awarded the title of Master Chef by The American Culinary Federation. He was baptized at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church by the late Rev. Faulkner. He was licensed into the gospel ministry August 26,1973. On March 18, 1979 he was ordained by the late Gordon A. Humphrey, Sr. After locating to Ohio, he served in various capacities at the following ministries, Second New Hope Baptist Church, Greater Peace Baptist Church, God Given C.O.G.I.C. and Greater Love Missionary Full Gospel Baptist Church, Temple of Deliverance Missionary Full Gospel Baptist Church, Second Ebenezer Baptist, and Zion Temple Baptist Church, and he served at associate minister in other ministries to the Glory of God. For a short time, he was the founder and Pastor of Rhema Family Worship Center. His privilege was to have made his final church home at Hear the Word Ministries where he was affectionately called Dad Dixon and this was under the Pastorate of Apostle Dr. Anicia Clayton. He was preceded in death by his Parents Ezekiel and Lula Dixon. His Grandparents Sim and Irene Dixon as well as Lula Byrd and Floyd Seaverson. He was also preceded in death by numerous aunts and uncles. He was preceded by his brothers Michael, Steven and David. His Godparents the Reverend and Mrs. Gordon A. Humphrey, Sr. His mother and Father-in-law Lucille and Hollis Morris, sister-in-law Martha Sweetener, and brothers-in-law Artur Wells and James Sweetener, and special niece Angie. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 46 years Elder Vicky Lynn Dixon. His children Vicky (Joseph) Armstead, Tyris (Pam) Easley, Martha "Anjel" (Randy)Anderson, and Eddlynne Dixon. Two Brothers Willie F. Dixon, Roger (Janiece) Dixon, and One Sister Barbara Wright. Eight grandson and 2 granddaughters, and a hose of God Children and friends and a Dynamic and loving extended Church family in Hear the Word Ministries.
