Edith Smith was born on January 30, 1909 in Sylva, NC to the late Garfield and Lillian Love-Cox.  She passed away August 9, 2013.  She was a member of Hills Temple First Born Church of the Living God for over 70 years.  She received a proclamation from President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama recognizing her for living to be 104 and also from Akron City 4th ward councilman Russell Neal and president Gary Moneypenny. Preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.  She is survived by her daughters, Daisy Smith, Beverly Butler and care giver, granddaughter, Iecia Butler.  she also leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and her church family.
