Ed Thompson, Jr., affectionately known as "Duke" passed away Friday,  August 12, 2016 at the Laurels of Canton.  Ed was born February 7, 1941 in Waynesburg, Ohio to the late Ed Thompson, Sr. and  Dora Maske Thompson.  During his early years he attended Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Henderson. Ed worked at the Timken Company, enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and friends,and had a passion for his pet cats. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Pamela (Michael, Sr.) Hill of Chicago, Illinois; sons, Kevin J. Thompson of Atlanta, Georgia and Ricky (Rose) Simmons of  Malvern, Ohio; (5) grandsons, Michael D., Jr. and Justin A. Hill of Chicago, Illinois, Joseph (Nicole) Simmons of Canton, Ohio,  Brad Simmons of Malvern, Ohio, Jerome Simmons of Malvern, Ohio; (1) granddaughter, Karlyn Wilson of Atlanta, Georgia as well as a host of great grandchildren Ed had a good heart. He will be remembered for the love he left behind, and a long legacy of love for his family and friends who also loved him; loving   sisters, Louise Hatchett of Canton, Ohio and Karen Ray of Cleveland, Ohio; brother, Leroy Thompson of Canton, Ohio as well as many nieces, nephews,  and grand children. He will be deeply missed.
