Earl Dejournett,
Jr.
November 13, 1941 – February 24, 2022
Earl DeJournett, Jr. "Squirrel", went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb 24, 2022. He was born to Earl Sr. and Hazel on November 13, 1941, in Bastrop, LA. In 1953 the family relocated to Akron, OH where he attended Akron Public Schools. As a young man, he joined Chrysler Corporation at the Twinsburg Stamping Plant where he served in the Environmental Services department for 35 years. In 2001 he retired to enjoy his lifelong hobbies of fishing, gardening, and traveling to his second home in Arizona with his daughter and son-in-law. He truly loved trying his skills at games of chance and watching sports. Earl will forever be known for his style, top-notch jewelry, sharp tongue, and most of all his black Cadillacs. Earl attended St. Ashworth Temple COGIC and New Hope Baptist Church. However, there was nothing that gave him as much joy as being surrounded by friends and family. Earl was preceded in death by parents Earl and Hazel DeJournett, son, Marc Averiette Siblings Linda DeJournett, Freddie Mae Butts, Helen Robinson, and Alice Pitts, Albert Jackson, Truman DeJournett, C.Ray DeJournett, and Louis DeJournett.
Leaving to cherish his memories, wife, Odessa DeJournett, of 42 years of marriage. Children Earl E. (Jerrica) DeJournett, Ayesha (Angel) Castiblanque , Lamar (Jameila)Moore, and Ron (Alesha) Mosley. Sister Betty (Olin) Smith. Mother-in-law Thelma L. Ewings. Grandchildren Natasha, Earl E. II, Amore, Lamar, Khalil More, A'xaria, DaMarcus, Mia, Ashley, and 10 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a loving host of Nephews, Nieces, family, and friends. Also left to treasure his memories are Special friends and family Doug(Sandy) Edmondson, Donnie Ray Pitts, Olin Smith Jr., Olin Smith Sr., Carlos DeJournett, Cedric DeJournett, Robert Earl DeJournett, Kevin DeJournett, "The Boys"(The Copley Discount Drive-Thru) and Thomas Mitchell.
