Douglas M.
Waters
November 29, 1991 – November 22, 2024
Douglas McArthur Porterfield Waters, affectionately known as "Slug," was born on November 29, 1991, in Akron, Ohio, to Kimberly Waters-Harwell and Douglas Porterfield Sr. His life was tragically cut short on November 22, 2024, just one week before his 33rd birthday.
Doug's infectious sense of humor and smile lit up every life he touched. Known for his deeply caring nature, he was always willing to give whatever he had to his friends and family. He was a cherished uncle, fondly referred to as "Uncle Doug" by every child he met. Doug had a lifelong passion for playing cards and dice, fueled by his competitive spirit, which emerged early in his childhood. Above all, his greatest wish was to be a devoted and loving father to his children.
He was preceded in death by great-grandmother Thelma Strickland, his granny Shirley Waters, with whom he shared a special bond, his grandfather Cleotha Johnson, and his late step-father Gary (Hev) Harwell Sr. Doug is survived by his beloved daughter, Danasia Waters, and his son, Savaryion "Lil Slug" Waters. He also leaves behind his loving siblings: sisters Charmain, Charnae, and Oneisha, as well as brothers Dominique, Dontell, Tracy "TP," and Doug Jr. Doug was deeply loved by his grandmother, Annie Porterfield. Doug will also be remembered fondly by his special mom, Susan Lawrence.
Doug's memory will be cherished by his brother/best friend and right-hand man, Whop June, his special friends Daryl, Damo & Mama Sue, Fat Boy, Drizz, Mammas, Tree, and Corey, as well as his nieces and nephews: Marquis, Malayah, Kimari, Dontell Jr., Layla, and a host of others.
Doug's legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
