Dorothy Mae Robinson, born Dorothy Bogan, 87, went into eternity December 10, 2023, after a short illness. She was born September 18, 1936, in Stanton, Missouri. Dorothy came to Akron, Ohio at the age of six and attended Akron Public Schools. She was the oldest of nine children born to the union of Hazel Lee and Hessie Bogan.
Dorothy was a Teacher's Assistant at Bryant Elementary School. She served on the Mothers Board, headed the greeter's department, as well as a member of Nurses Guild, and an Adjutant sister at Unity Holiness Ministries under the late A.C. Walker in Akron, Ohio. She also was a former member of Grandparents on The Rise as well as Project UJIME– Buchtel Community cluster.
Dorothy loved traveling to different cities throughout the United States. She served as a member of the Block Club in her community. She was also a member of the NAACP. She loved her children, grandchildren and church family. She believed she deserved the best and believed others deserved better than what life had awarded them. She never missed her children's birthday or giving them something on Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Valentine's Day.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Harry Robinson; her parents Hazel and Hessie Bogan; Siblings, Ida (Frank) Robinson, Marilyn (John) Stone, Hazle Bogan, Lemon Harold Bogan, and Louis Bucey; son-in-law, Macey Hardin; and brother-in-law, James Byrd, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Valerie Hardin, Ricardo Robinson, Michael Robinson, Lorena Robinson, Kevin (Tracey) Robinson, Vicky, Darlene, and Theresa Robinson; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Robinson; daughters, Renee (Darnell) Hilton and Wanda Halsell; siblings, Betty Joseph, Mary Holyfield-Brown, Millie (John) McMillan, Elsie Byrd and Sandy (Thomas) James; 12 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, and other family and friends. Special thanks to Clenstine Oden, Shirley Neals and Olda Mae Cheatham, Shirley Finney, Jasmin Taylor and Sandy and Thomas James.
