Dorothy R. Powe-Cooper "Ma", passed away on Monday January 23rd, 2017. Dorothy was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi on January 26, 1932 to the late Clinton Powe and Mary L. Johnson. In the late 1940's she moved to Akron, Ohio where she became a permanent resident. Dorothy started work at the Ravenna Arsenal, then moved on to a career in the hospital industry at Green Cross Hospital, where she worked in the surgery room as a medication packer for 10 years. She then relocated to Akron City hospital as a tray girl for 8 years. Dorothy was an only child, she was happiest spending quality time with her family and loved ones. She enjoyed cooking, exercising, and crafting creating fine jewelry and antique dolls. She leaves to cherish her memories to her husband, Alonzo Cooper; her children, Pamela Powe-McCray, Melvin Powe of Columbus, Ohio, Rodrick Cooper "Muhammad" and Tonya (Thomas) Moreland; her grandchildren, Jamar (Shai) McCray, Treneice (Bobby II) Campbell, Darika Williams, Jason Cooper, Desiree Jones and Brandon Jones; her great-grandchildren; Jameelah Solomon, Ladai McCray, Jamar McCray Jr., Lizza McCray, Marissa McCray, Joshua Ruggs, Leah Campbell, Bobby Campbell III, Daija Williams, Aiyona Williams, Endia Williams, Kevian Poindexter, Cayden Patterson, Jayciana Cooper and her Great great grandchildren, Dai'onn Hansard; special childhood and lifelong friend, Dorothy Pearson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
