Born July 5, 1936 in Opelika, Alabama to the late Turner and Wazie Bell (Adkins) Watson, Dorothy "Dot" Jackson, age 89, transitioned from earth to glory on Sunday December 7, 2025. Dot received her education through Canton City Schools. She was employed by the Republic Stamping and Enameling Co. and later at the Hoover Co. However, she is best known and admired for her modeling career with Willie Paul Milan and Chris Talk of the Town. She also graced the runways in Las Vegas, NV with poise and dignity. Being one of the longest living members of Antioch Baptist Church, Dot served faithfully with the Sisters United Ministry, Kitchen Committee, Senior Praise Team and the Three Score Plus Ministry. On September 26, 1980 Dot married the love of her life, the late Johnson "Joe" Jackson. In addition to her parents and her husband, Dot was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Lewis and Prince Ella Adkins; Paternal grandparents Thomas and Georgia Watson; sisters/brother in laws, Hattie Mae and Richard Torrence, Geraldine "Babydean" and Percy Gillespie, and Katherine 'Tiny" Watson; Nephews: Ronald H. Jackson Jr., James Smith, and Cecil "Leon" Smith; Nieces: Stacy Pride, Michelle Smith, Stephanie Smith, and Lisa Smith; Great Nephews: Paris D. Wicks II and Quintin Pride. Dot's marriage to Joe blessed her with an instant family who also cherishes her memory. Son in law and daughter, Elder Ace Gillems, wife Doretha Gillems, grandchildren Tinia Gillems, Ace (Renee) L. Gillems, Jr., Kelly Shantay (Dashelle) Sims. Great Grandchildren Amber (Jonthan) Bunton, Antonio (Monica) Gillems, RexJay Reed, Andrea Gillems, Ace Sims, Aaryn Sims; Great – Great Grandchildren Myla Miller, Antonio Gillems, Jr. and Andrea Gillems, Jr. Other daughters Polly Washington of Cincinnati, OH., Sygrid (Rick) Maxwell and Mary Bruce of Chicago, Ill., and sister-in-law Ovetta Armstead of Forkland, AL Her sisters, Lula Bell Smith, Staisha (Dave) Thompson, and Sylvia Watson all of Canton, OH.; and her brother Dr. Rudy J. (Aremita) Watson of Silver Spring, MD. Dot was also blessed to have a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins; her Special friend of over 60 years, Gloria Wilson and her Antioch Family who will cherish her memory as well.
