Dontez Darnell Burns, age 17, went home to be with the Lord on February 12, 2021. Dontez was born November 13, 2003 in Barberton, Ohio to parents Derrick J. Harris and Raquel Burns Covington.

Dontez came to know Christ through his attendance at Reimer Road Baptist Church and Community Fellowship Chapel, and as a participant in the South   Akron Youth Mentorship program. He attended Glover Elementary, Roswell Kent Middle School, Akron Preparatory School, and Garfield High School, until he decided to go to Job Corps to obtain his high school diploma and a certificate in auto mechanics. He participated in multiple sports including his time playing  basketball for Akron Prep and playing several years of pee wee football with both the Firestone Park Rams and the Central Raiders.

Dontez was preceded in death by grandparents, Geraldine Thomas Draper, Apostle Earl Thomas and Mitzie Covington. He will be deeply missed by mother, Raquel (Gary), father Derrick (Cheri); grandparents Deborah Golden, Ernest   Morrison, Elbert Burns, Delores and Gilbert Forshee, Jerry and Silvia Burks, and Thomas Draper; brothers, Kevin Thomas and Dezmond Gainer; sisters, Triana Williams, Tanika Mays, Johnesha Hailes, Hannah Eubanks, Amaya Gainer,  Mitzie "Mimi" Covington, and Bri'Elle Burns; cousin-sister Gjbreaha Burns, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends

Dontez was a son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and loved by all.
