Dewayne L.
Cooper
February 5, 1958 – August 20, 2024
Dewayne L. Cooper went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday August 21, 2024. He was born February 5, 1958, in Akron, Ohio.
Dewayne accepted Christ at an early age and had been a member of Mt. Haven Baptist Church Akron, Ohio.
God created Dewayne as an extraordinary being who touched the lives of many people. He met so many good people at the different restaurants where he worked, and to this day they remain friends. DeWayne was a self taught seamstress, who loved to sew for himself and others.
DeWayne attended Akron Public Schools where he graduated from South High School.
Although as he would say," I can't carry a tune in a bucket!", Dewayne loved to sing and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ thru song. He was a member of the Bettye R. Palms Ensemble (fondly called the "Betsy Palmers" lol!) where he was always bringing the group together, whether it was singing and having a hallelujah good time or just a fun filled picnic at the park. He was also a member of the Varson Community Choir, Buffalo, NY and John Eberhart Community Choir of Detroit, Michigan where he and Tammy Williams-Taylor traveled numerous years back and forth together.
DeWayne was preceded in death by mother, Bernice Cooper, nephew, Davion McCail.
He leaves to cherish his memory brother, Clifford (Bondy) Cooper, sister, Rev. Charlotte Wade; nephew, Cliffton Gay; and a host of cousins, relatives and special friends.
