Deloris J.
Smith
July 12, 1956 – December 5, 2023
Deloris Smith, known to friends and family as "Lo Lo - Lowdown," was born July 12, 1956, to her late parents Jimmy T. and Mary Lee Mangum (who preceded her in death), in Detroit, Michigan. She was the fourth youngest of seven siblings.
Deloris graduated from Southeastern High School. In her early years, Deloris accepted Christ under the leadership of the late Nathaniel Taylor at City View Missionary Church.
Deloris was blessed to have 2 wonderful sons Jerrel Smith and (Richard Smith) who preceded her in death.
Deloris was employed at Beckers Motor plant until the doors of the company closed. Deloris enjoyed spending time with her co-workers.
Deloris decided to leave Michigan and follow her two sons to Akron, OH in 2012 to be near them. She cherished and loved her boys, and they loved her.
She had a heart of gold and a lot of love to give. Easily, everyone's favorite. A mediator, oftentimes becoming the peacemaker for many. She wanted everyone around her to laugh, enjoy themselves, and have a good time together. If anything was worth celebrating, life was worth celebrating!
After the fighting cancer and a broken heart of the loss of her son Richard, the Lord saw fit to call her home on December 5th at 4:56 pm where she can be at rest and reunite with her family members who all preceded her in death, Richard Smith (son), Erdelle Johnson (sister), Willie Clegg –(Plug), (brother), Carl Mangum (brother), Mark Johnson (nephew), and her two favorite aunties Betty Clegg and Wellene Clegg and let's not forget her favorite uncle Big Willie. She would say now let's get this party started because Low Down is in the house.
Deloris leaves to cherish her loving memories: 3 sisters Essie, Joyce and Evelyn Mangum. 6 Grandchildren: Chardonnay Fuller, CyHir Collins, Aniyah Smith, Reese Davis, Janelle Smith, and LaFay Smith, also a host of nieces and nephew
