Debra L. Seymour was gifted to the world on February 12, 1961 to the late Harold Seymour and Virginia Seymour. She transitioned form this earthly life on August 2, 2021.
Debra attended Canton City Schools, graduating from McKinley Sr. High School, class of 1979. She attended The Ohio State University and earned an associates degree from Stark State University.
It was always her desire to be of service to others, so in 1989 she applied to take the Civil Service exam to become a firefighter. She passed all the requirements and was hired in as one of a very few women, who were a part of The Department. She was hired on Friday, April 21, 1989 at 10:30 A.M. She retired Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 7:00 A.M.
She was a member of the Stark County Hazardous Materials Response Team. She graduated from the Aultman Hospital Paramedic Program in 1990. She served as Suppression Analyst for the department in 1996 to help program the new computer automated dispatch system. She was the first female to retire with the full 25 years of service.
After her first diagnosis with Breast Cancer, Debbie joined The Pink Tabulus Diva's a breast cancer survivor group. She was very fond of all these ladies.
Debra was preceded in death by her father Harold Seymour and brother, Ronald C. Seymour; along with her grandparents.
She leaves to forever cherish her memory, her beloved son, Dwayne Seymour of Canton; two granddaughters, Trinity and Maelynn Seymour; her mother, Mrs. Virginia Seymour of the home; brothers, Lawrence P (Velva) Seymour of Canton, Ohio, Brain K. (Kim) Seymour of Locust Grove, Georgia; best friend/sister, Bobbie Chavers; four God children, Preston Chavers, Sr, John Chavers, Christopher Kennard and Jessica Jones; bonus daughter, Carrie Toney; grandson, Ben; bonus sons, Dawuan, Kevin, and Dustin; special niece and nephew, Takia and Ronnie Seymour; along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins too numerous to name.
She also had a special love and friendship with close friend, Paula Jevcak and her children RJ (Kendra and Baby Karson) of Minot, Dakota; AFB and Alexis Jevcak of Canton, they lovingly referred to her as aunt Debbie and treasured friends, Kimberly Dove, Alvena Elliot, Malcom Moore and Jennifer Burke. She touched so many lives in so many ways and she loved each and every one of you!
