Deacon James Jordan Sr. was born on February 12, 1924 in Barnesville, Georgia. He was the son of the late Ida Jordan. James resided in Barnesville, GA until he was drafted into the armed forces. He served in the United States Air Force for 30 years and later worked in Civil Service at Beale Airforce Base in Marysville, CA as a member of the Fire Department for 20 years. He was faithful at winning souls for Christ while being a great example of fighting the fight of faith. He was a Deacon at Greater Hill Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Sacramento, CA for many years. In 2009 he became a Deacon at Macedonia Baptist Church. He was also an active member of the Shriners and various other community organizations. Family and friends will always remember James' infectious sense of humor and his loving ways. In 2005 James married Addie Barrino in Sacramento, CA. He was a loving husband and devoted caregiver. "Some Glad Morning When this life is over, I'll fly away…." On Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2015 James' soul took flight to a Mansion not made by the hands of man. James was preceded in death by his son Rodney Jordan. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife Addie Jordan of Canton, OH. ; two sons, James Jordan Jr. of Canton, Oh and Robin Jordan of Sacramento, CA.; three daughter,s Ann Jordan of Sacramento, CA; Mary Frances "Frankie" Scales of Sacramento, CA; Carolyn Williams of Phoenix, AZ. James was blessed to have 20 grandchildren, 49 Great-grandchildren and 19 Great-great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
