David Armstead,
Jr.
July 12, 1945 – July 24, 2021
On July 24, 2021 David Armstead Jr. was called home to be with the Lord. He was born on July 12, 1945, to the union of the late David Armstead Sr. and Susie Armstead.
A lifelong resident of Canton, David accepted Christ at an early age. He attended Mount Calvary 2nd Baptist Church, where he was baptized. He always praised God for all of the many blessings he has given him. David was a 1965 graduate of Canton McKinley High School. His activities were wrestling and football. David was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Cavaliers. We definitely knew when he was watching football because you could hear him scream "TOUCHDOWN' all the way down the street.
After graduation, he was employed as a steel pourer at Republic Steel, where he retired after 35 years of service. He was also employed as a custodian though Canton City Schools, volunteered as a Precinct Committee Member through the Democratic Party of Stark County. He enjoyed conversing with people and telling jokes to make people laugh, especially while shopping at Marc's Deep Discount. He loved being around f amily and if you have any questions about family history, he was your go-to-guy. When he was able to drive, he would travel everywhere he possibly could by car. When his health began to decline, he would fly the friendly skies to visit his daughter in Texas. He would be ready at anytime to go to his favorite restaurant "Cracker Barrel". He was a dedicated grandfather and he loved all of his family. Even as his health began to decline, he still continued to support all that he could.
We will always remember his favorite words…" Nothing beats a failure with a try."
In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his brother, Allen Armstead.
David leaves to cherish his precious memories to his wife of 36 years, Patricia Armstead; daughters, LeAnne (Darron) Dudley, and Dorothea (Kevin Walker Sr.) Armstead; (3) brothers, Nathaniel (Ida) Armstead, Daniel I (Carmilla) Armstead, Benjamin (Lovie) Armstead; sisters, Deborah Travick and Cynthia Armstead; grandchildren, Maya Curry, Micah Armstead, Jailee Curry, and KeVondre Walker; (1) great grandchild, Tyrek Washington Jr. "TJ", and an additional great grandson on the way, Tajh Washington.
