Jr.

Dave Cross, Jr., born in Mound Bayou, Mississippi, was the son of Mary K. Cross and Dave Cross, Sr., both deceased. He passed away quietly on February 16, 2026, at 2:00 AM.
Dave accepted Christ at an early age at Azion Baptist Church in Mound Bayou, Mississippi.
He graduated from John F. Kennedy Memorial High School in Mound Bayou, Mississippi in May 1965.
After completing high school, Dave relocated to Chicago andworked for Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) before enlisting in the National Guard. Following his retirement from the National Guard, he worked for Greyhound and then dedicated over thirty years to the United States Postal Service. After retiring from the USPS, he continued his dedication to serving others by working as a city bus driver for Regional Transit Authority (RTA) in Canton, as well as taking on several other roles in transportation.
He was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under Reverend Charles Prince's leadership and remained committed until illness prevented his participation. He enjoyed Sunday school, Bible class, and prayer meetings. He also served in the men's ministry and sang with the male chorus.
Family and Legacy
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: a devoted wife, Doris Blount Cross; three children, Christy Burton, David (Kenyatta) Huffman, and Daphne (Gregory) Prewitt; two stepchildren, Marcellous (Marcia) Blount and Melissa (William) Garner; two grandchildren, Dior and Demi Prewitt; three sisters, Desiree (Cleavon) Moore, Mattie Wright, and Mary (Arthur) Louise Clanders; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceded in death by parents Dave and Mary Cross, son Marvin Cross, four sisters; Clotee Daniels, Iula Cross Moore, Eloise Cross Mills, Martha Bradley, and one brother Franklin Cross.
His legacy will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.
