Constance Marlene "Connie" Bryant, 81, entered eternal rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 28, 2024.  She was born in Akron, Ohio on June 19, 1942.  She was 1 of 8 children born to the late Willie Julius Veal and Grace Barbara Banks-Veal.

A lifelong resident of Akron, Ohio, she attended Akron Public Schools and graduated from East High School in 1961 where she was the first black May Queen Crowner.   Connie married her High School Love Frederick Bryant Sr. on April 21, 1962.  They were married for 56 years until his death in 2019.   There were 4 children born to this union:  Frederick Jr (Chip), Eric, Sherrye and Jeff.

Connie received an Associates and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Child and Family Development from the University of Akron.  She worked for over 30 years as a Preschool Teacher for the Akron Summit County Community Action Agency.  She loved working with children and helping them develop life skills and it showed.

She was all about family, especially her grandchildren.  She enjoyed bowling, jazzercise, Silver Sneaker workouts, traveling, Luther Vandross, watching basketball and she was also a "Lebron James" Granny.  She will always be known for her quick wit, friendly demeanor and totally loving spirit.  Also her homemade dinner rolls and lemon cake.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents Julius and Grace Veal, Husband Frederick A Bryant Sr., Inlaws John Henry Bryant Sr. (Mary), Ruby Bryant, Brothers: William Veal (Maetroy), Ronald Veal (Barbara), and Ronnie Jackson.  Sisters: Beverly Veal -Short-Wells and Barbara Veal.

She leaves to cherish memory and legacy Sons: Frederick "Chip" Bryant Jr., Eric  Bryant (Karen) and Jeff Bryant (Sonja).  Daughter: Sherrye Dixon (Dennis) all of Akron.    Brother Louis Veal (Cecilia) of Columbus, OH and Sisters: Marcia Veal-Jones of Lackawanna, NY and Brenda "Bird" Burney of Akron, OH.  She also leaves to cherish her memory Grandsons: Desmond Bryant (Tiffany), TJ Smith, Tyson Smith, Antonio Bryant, and  Vance Summers II (Kiara) of Las Vegas, NV  Granddaughters: Tajah Smith, Ariana Bryant and Kenisha Williams of Las Vegas, NV.  Great-Grand Children: Alijah, Kalliyah, Khairel, Sierra, Vakhai, VaShawn, Ka'niya and a host of other friends and family.

The family would also wish to thank the staff of Harbor Chase Retirement Village in Shaker Heights, OH.
