Coley Smith, Sr., 92, departed this earthly life on February 3, 2019.  Coley served in the United States Army during World War II and was employed by B.F. Goodrich for 37 dedicated years.  Listening to jazz and going to the horse races were his favorite pass times.  He is survived by his beautiful wife of 72 years, Betty Smith, and their five children, La Cresia and Thomas Gaines of Cleveland, OH, Coley Smith, Jr., Karl Smith, Coletta and Raymond (Skipper) Turneur all of Akron, OH and Carol and David Sparkman of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, El Simone Clark, Leslie Nicole Harris, Durwin Barkley and Isaiah Sparkman and a host of great and great-great grandchildren survive him.  Home Going service will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, 11 A.M. at Rhoden Memorial Home 1101 Palmetto Ave., Akron, OH 44306, where friends may call from 10.
