Christine Annette Pleasant West age 61 of Canton, Ohio transitioned into conscious rest in the presence of Jesus Christ on January 21, 2024. She was born in Mobile, Alabama (which was very significant to her) on October 26, 1962, the oldest child born to William (Jody) and Betty Pleasant. A resident of Canton, Christine graduated from GlenOak High School in 1980 and shortly thereafter married her high school sweetheart, Nathaniel (Nate) West Sr., who from this union three devoted daughters and a son were born. Christine was a 2015 graduate of Stark State College where she earned an Associate Degree in Human and Social Services.

Christine, a multi-faceted individual, was known endearingly for her big heart, compassion, love, respect, selflessness, and wisdom to family members, friends, and even strangers. She was a consistent prayer warrior, listening ear and spoke truth even if it was difficult. Christine made many sacrifices for her family's well-being. As a devoted mother and grandmother, her life was centered around nurturing and supporting her children and grandchildren. Christine enjoyed shopping, traveling the world, dancing and listening to Gospel, Blues/Southern Soul music. Her smile was contagious as she enjoyed spending quality time with friends and family. Not only did Christine love the children in her family but also the children that she nurtured and cared for over the years as the current owner and operator of Christine's Day Care. Prior to caring for children, she was employed at the Hoover Company for over twelve years.

Christine accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was baptized while attending Wells of Joy Church under the leadership of Elder Lloyd D. Kinlow. Christine also attended Full Gospel Temple with Elder Sylvester Keaton as Pastor. She later became and remained a member of the Word of God Community Church under the leadership of Dr. L. David Kinlow.

Christine had a strong Christ-centered foundation. In 1977 she along with her sister Debrah and 5 other teenage girls founded an outreach ministry called YET (Youth Evangelistic Team) -God isn't finished with us YET. "And I am certain that God, who began a good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus return" (Philippians 1:6)

Christine is proceeded in death by her paternal grandparents Eddie Lou and Frank Pleasant, her maternal grandparents, Arceal and George Tucker, her former in-laws, James and Pearl West, nephew Ronald Pleasant, great-nephew King Pleasant, special aunt Willie Mae "Tiny" Gullette and cousin Valerie Burt.

Her matriarchal qualities will truly be missed as she leaves to celebrate her life and legacy through her parents; William (Jody) Betty Pleasant, daughters; Natatia (Darryl) Peterson, Ebony (Don-Niel) Cundiff Sr., Angel West, son Nathaniel (Kelsey) West Jr, all of Canton Ohio,and Lakeia Wright of Columbus, Ohio, 19 grandchildren, Myazia, Darryn, Jai'Lynn, London, Tashiyah, Grant, Nah'Jai, Jaden, Dior, Josiah, Nah'Jaier, Adonis, Brooklynn, Donnell, Daylon, Preslie, Aria, Jai'Zaier, Paris'Hazel, four loving sisters; Debrah (Allen) Trent, Angela Mushatt, Betty Denise Pleasant all of Canton, Ohio and Demetra "Mickey" Nelson (Jeffrey) of Tampa, Florida, brother in law Robert Mushatt, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. We will all miss our beloved Annette.
