Christine Ruggs was born on April 9,1934, in Macon Georgia, to the late Charlie and MaeBerta Shoates. She was the fifth of eleven children and was lovingly raised in a large family filled with faith, strength, and resilience.

In 1950, Christine moved to Akron with her family, where she attended Akron Public Schools and graduated from East High School. On May 26,1954, she united in marriage with the love of her life, Jesse Ruggs Sr, in Akron, Ohio. Together, they built a loving home and were blessed with seven children.

Christine dedicated more than 50 years of faithful service working for APS and Children Service Board before retiring. She was known for her strong work ethic, caring heart, and unwavering dedication to helping others.

A woman of deep faith, Christine was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, (Greater New Fellowship) later uniting with her husband at Faith Temple Church until her passing. She faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher for over fifty years and diligently on the missionary board, always willing to pour into the lives of others through love, encouragement, and prayer.

Christine was steadfast, compassionate, and giving in every area of her life. She found joy in tending to her garden, preparing meals for those she loved, decorating for the holidays, and bringing family and friends together. Her home was filled with warmth, laughter, and love, and she had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome and cared for.

To know Christine was to experience kindness, wisdom, grace, and unconditional love. Her Love for the Lord and sharing Him to others was her Goal. Christine carried herself with quiet strength and dignity, and her light touched everyone she knew. She was the heart of her family a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and loyal friend whose legacy of faith and love will live on for generations to come.

Christine leaves to cherish her precious memory her husband Jesse Ruggs Sr, Children Kimberly Dinkins, Jessie Ruggs jr, Jeanine Ruggs, Clayton Ruggs, Marvin Ruggs, and Calvin Ruggs Christine has one living sibling, Robert Shoates and first cousin Jean Watts that resides here in Akron, Ohio along with a host of Grandchildren, Greatgrand and Great-great Grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.

She is preceded in death by her son, Dudley Shoates; and her siblings, Charles Shoates Sr. Earnest Shoates, Lucille Thomas, James Shoates, Herman Shoates, David Shoates, and Geraldine Townsend.
