Charles M.
Kyser
January 19, 1940 – December 19, 2023
Charles M Kyser Sr. also known as Chili, was born in Atmore, Alabama to Alton and Mary Kyser. In life, he was a man who was no-nonsense, diligent, tough, understanding, kind, and loved to laugh. Growing up, he enjoyed boxing, hockey, ice and roller skating and going fishing in Canada. He attended Inkster High School, playing football and basketball, but what made him stand out across the state of Michigan were his achievements in Track and Field, of which he holds several records still unbroken to this day. Charles was an avid sports fan, always cheering on his favorite teams, specifically The University of Michigan Wolverines.
Upon graduation, he went on to attend Alabama State and Youngstown State University, studying English and Physical Therapy. After college, he went into the police academy to train to become a Sheriff. Additionally, he was a private investigator at Pinkerton.
Charles worked at Great Lakes Steel for 29 years, retiring in 2001 and moving from Inkster, Michigan to Akron, Ohio.
Charles met Claudia in 1968 to later marry in 1976 and they remained married for 47 years until his passing. Charles and Claudia enjoyed doing everything together, especially taking care of their home. His main focus in life was always caring for his family.
Charles loved a variety of different music genres, from classical, country, to jazz and everything in between. He had a remarkable memory and was very knowledgeable about past and current events.
