Charles A. Jefferson's Obituary

Charles Alexander Jefferson, affectionately known as "Charlie," "Chuck," and "Dude," went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2026, at the age of 33.

Born on July 24, 1992, in Akron, Ohio, Charles was a lifelong resident of the city he proudly called home. Raised on the north side of Akron, where he built many of the friendships that would remain with him throughout his life and bonds that continued and grew during his time at North High School.

Charles was a presence you couldn't ignore. Known for his fresh and undeniable style, protective spirit, infectious smile that would brighten any room, and unmatched sense of humor, he brought energy, creativity, and authenticity into every room he entered. He had a natural gift for making people laugh, being very witty, playful, and always ready to crack a joke or say a slick remark that could lighten any moment. If you knew Charles, you knew laughter came with him. While life's challenges shaped him into someone strong and resilient, those who truly knew Charles understood that beneath it all was a deeply loving, kind, sweet and soft-hearted person.

He found joy in cooking, playing cards, gaming, and most importantly, being surrounded by the people he loved. Whether laughing with friends, joking around, or simply being present, Charles left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Sandra Mayfield; his beloved children: Carter (13), Cartier (7), Montiere (7), Ca'Marii (5), and Legacii (3); and his stepchildren, Danielle (16) and Daymier (11). His greatest joy and proudest role in life was being a father. He also leaves behind his siblings, Denise "Necy" Jordan, Mike Rucker, Philip Mayfield, Saunja Mayfield, Cenita "Boo Boo" Jefferson, Jerry Jefferson, Monique Mayfield, Willie Jefferson, Viola Jefferson, Dwaan Jefferson, Demetrius Jefferson, Dontell Jefferson, Kareem Wade and Brandon Hopson.

Additionally, Charles leaves behind his partner, Denise Edwards; who is the mother of three of his beautiful children, and Martina Mitchell, the mother of his eldest son, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family; his favorite cousins, Shanay Junius and Angel "Bird" Williams; and cousin Natahja Mayfield, who was more like a sibling, having been raised in the same home.

He is preceded in death by his father, Willie Charles Jefferson; his grandparents, Ernestine and Fred Mayfield; and his beloved Nannie (Aunt Lean) and Dada (Uncle Tommy).

Charles' brotherhood ran deep, and he is lovingly remembered by his closest friends: David (Best friend), James, Ramsey, Tevin, Zeddie, Jordan, JR, the entire #5858 family, along with many others whose lives he touched.

May his life and legacy be a reminder to live, love & laugh all the days ahead.
