Obituary

Charles E. Brown, Sr., affectionately known as "Charlie Brown" by many who knew and loved him, departed this life after complications from illness on Saturday, November 14, 2020.

Charlie was born, January 26, 1939, in Kingston, West Virginia to the late William and Clara Brown. Charlie leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Sharon K. Brown of 50 years, and two       surviving sisters, Mrs. Emily Milan, Canton, Ohio and, Mrs. Helen A. Mickey, of Beckley, West Virginia. Also mourning his loss, children; Gayle Thomas, Charles E. Brown, Jr., Maurice Brown, Brian Brown, Donna J. Brown, Jonathan Brown, Pamela Thompson-Hill (Michael),    and Kevin J. Thompson.

Charlie was preceded in death, by his three brothers, William Henry (Bill) Brown, Harry Brown, and Dewitt (Doug) Redmon, son, David Turner, grandson, Brian Keith Brack,  great-granddaughter, Lyric G. Loney, and daughter-in-law, Rita Brown.

Anyone who knew Charlie knew that he was an avid Harley Davidson rider and loved his bike "Snupy". He rode with the Blue Knight and Vultures motorcycle clubs for many years. He was a loyal Ohio sports fan who loved the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers, and was also a die-hard Ohio State fan. He loved watching Westerns and enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, being outdoors, and was always up for a challenge with a good game of Bid-Whist.

Charlie was a life-long resident of Canton and a member of the Canton Negro Oldtimers. He worked tirelessly over the years supporting the community, and was committed to organizing the Annual Easter Egg Hunt for kids, the Annual Thanksgiving Basket giveaways, the Annual Senior Citizen's Picnic, and the Annual Senior Citizen's Christmas Party which included seniors throughout Canton and surrounding areas. Charlie was very outgoing, and had a fun-loving  personality and boisterous laugh that he openly shared with everyone. He proudly kept a        detailed calendar with birthdates and ages of all his grandchildren, and leaves a legacy of 17 grandchildren, and 16 great- grandchildren, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews,             cousins, daughter in-laws, family, friends, and neighbors.

Charlie embraced life, lived it to the fullest, and lived by his own rules. He never said "Goodbye" – but instead, always said "See You Later," so to the man we knew as a husband, brother, father, papa, and friend who will forever be  in our hearts--- we say, "See You Later!"
