Cedric Lanier Richards was born on March 16, 1972, and was called home to be with the Lord on July 12, 2026, after courageously battling an illness.
Cedric was a proud graduate of Central-Hower High School in Akron, Ohio, and he severed in the U.S. Navy. He was well known for his towering height, his love of basketball, and his outgoing personality. Cedric never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. His warm smile, sense of humor, and friendly spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him, especially the ladies.
Cedric was employed at Barberton Hospital, where he was respected for his dedication and the relationships he built with coworkers and those he encountered.
Cedric was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Harvey and Velma Richards; his stepfather, Ira "Danny" Holt; and his brother, DeMarcus Pledger.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted mother, Cheryl Richards; his Godmother, Brenda Pledger; his sisters, Monique (Anthony Taylor) Richards, Tiffani Pledger, and Tennille Pledger; his children, Taylor King, Tyler Richards, Tyra Richards, Tayden Garrett, and Tyrin Garrett; his favorite nephews, Jaden Richards and De'Shaun Powell; eight grandchildren; Favorite Cousin: Cynthia (Cindy) Bond of Atlanta Georgia, and close friends, Charles Brice, Robert Richardson, Damon Johnson, Garland Donnie, Patrice Dossie, Lonnie Watkins, Zeb Moutry, Colin Reed, and Michael Cole.
Cedric also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, coworkers, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, laughter, and unforgettable presence.
Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we rejoice in knowing that Cedric's earthly journey has ended and that he now rests peacefully in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
