Cassandra Y.
Mingo-Malone
January 3, 1958 – November 12, 2025
Cassandra Yvette Mingo-Malone was born on January 3, 1958 in Akron, Ohio, to James Mingo Sr. and Mary Mingo. She gained her wings on November 12, 2025. Sandy attended Akron Public Schools and later attended Uniontown SDA School, Mount Vernon SDA Academy, and obtained her GED at North High School. She sang in the Ensemble Jr. Choir, Bethel SDA Ensemble, Akron Community Choir, Royal Angelettes, and Refuge. She was a faithful member of the Canton SDA Church, serving on the usher board and children's story time hour. Sandy was united in marriage in 1996 to Terry Malone.
As we all know, no matter where she went, you would be greeted with a warm smile and she would lovingly ask, "Has anyone told you they love you today? Well, I do, and God loves us most." To her loving daughter, she would start each phone conversation with "Hey pretty girl" and her son couldn't enter or exit her presence without his famous kiss on her left cheek.
During her time of illness, she was loved and cared for by her little sister, Drexa, and her great niece, Ta'liea English; they became inseparable. It was during this time that she gave her life back to God. She and her sister worked diligently on their sobriety and relationship with God until her very last breath. This was very important for Cassandra as she did it for her children, and in the end, she made them very proud.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Malone; her mother and father, James Mingo Sr. and Mary Mingo; two brothers, James (Ricky) Mingo and Gary Mingo; and niece, Jasmine English-Davis. She leaves her loving daughter, Latoria (Damon) Dawson, son Kenta Mingo, sisters Felicia (Marshall) Mingo-Jackson, Drexa Mingo-Ware, and Mignon (Damon) Mingo-Bracy. Grandchildren, Teonna Johnson, Maurice Bridges, Tiara Bridges, Monique Bridges, MarQuise Bridges, Kennedi Mingo, Kenta Mingo Jr., and several great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special cousins, Charlotte Mitchem, Marshalle Vales, and Leona Kidd, adopted brothers, Derrick Castleberry and Paul Carrington, and best friend, Paulette Washington.
