Carrie D. Parker's Obituary

Carrie D. Parker, nee Harris a cherished matriarch and beacon of warmth and wisdom, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, at the age of 91, after a brief illness. Born on July 10, 1934, in Montgomery, Alabama, Carrie was the beloved daughter of Robert and Salina Harris, who instilled in her the values of love, resilience, and community that she carried throughout her life.

Carrie was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert L. Parker Sr., her daughter, Bonita F. Wilcox, and her grandson, Dante A. Parker. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert Sr. and Selina Harris, her sisters, Ardie Willis, Frankie Stovall, Novella Smith, Olene Nelson, Mable Moore, Maggie Harris, and her brothers, Robert Harris Jr., Ned Harris, Vernell Harris, Verlin Harris, Walter Harris, and Joe Harris.

Each loss was a profound moment in her life, yet she found strength in the love of her surviving family and community.

Carrie's legacy continues through her children, sons Robert L. Parker Jr. (Rhonda) and Kim Allen Parker (Jocelyn), and daughter, Tracey Lynne Parker, all residing in Canton, Ohio. She was the proud grandmother to Chelle Inman and a beloved great-grandmother of four as well as six great-great-grandchildren. Her family circle extends to her surviving sister, Missouri Milton of Montgomery, Alabama, and sister-in-law's, Leida Parker of Akron, Ohio and Pearl Harris of Montgomery, Alabama, along with numerous cherished nieces and nephews.

Carrie's professional life was marked by her dedication to nurturing and service. As a homemaker, she created a warm and welcoming home. Her career spanned roles at Joseph T. Nist in housekeeping and dietary positions at McKinley Day Care and J.R. Coleman Center, where her caring nature made a lasting impact on those she served.

Her commitment to faith and community was evident in her longstanding membership and active participation in the Canton New Hope Seventh Day Adventist Church. There, she found joy in serving as an usher and contributing to Prison Ministries and the Three Angels Message. Later, she became a cherished member of the Massillon Connection Seventh Day Adventist Church, continuing her spiritual journey.

Carrie's hands were never idle, as she found great pleasure in gardening, cooking, canning, crafting, and sewing. Her garden was a reflection of her nurturing spirit, and her home was filled with the comforting aromas of her culinary creations and the warmth of her handcrafted treasures.

As we celebrate Carrie's life, we remember her as a woman of grace, compassion, and unwavering faith.

Her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know her. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
