Carlene Tarver, 95, went home to be with the Lord on April 12, 2017 in Canton, Ohio.  She was born on July 11, 1921 in Bessemer, Alabama to Ivory and Charlotte Sanders.  She was preceded in death by her parents as a small child and was lovingly raised by her aunt and uncle Judge and Jettie Sanders.

Carlene developed a knack for cooking at a young age and for many years of her life worked as a professional cook and baker.  She also loved crafts and gardening.  She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Canton, Ohio for more than 70 years, where she was a faithful member of the usher board.  She was often known for her snazzy style of dress and her grand hats on Sunday mornings.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her aunt and uncle Judge and   Jettie Sanders; son, Otis Gibbs; great granddaughter Kayelisa Martin; great-great grandson, Omoyele Gonzalez; cousins, Leroy Hampton, William Sanders, Betty Hall, and son-in-law, David Terrell.

She leaves to cherish her memory cousin Dorothy (Leon) Horton; daughters, Barbara (Sherman, Sr.) Martin, Loretta Gibbs, Michele Terrell, and son Eric (Stephanie) Tarver all of Canton, Ohio; grandchildren, , Sherman (Odette) Martin, Jr., Kovetta Sanders, Sheila Sanders, Rodney (Audra) Martin, Kevin (Tracy) Martin, Shermell Martin, Charletta Gibbs, Harvey Jeter, Maria Tarver, LaToya Tarver, Lauren Tarver, Erika Tillman, and Danielle (Wayne) Flowers.  Carlene also leaves to cherish her memories(14) great grandchildren, (12) great-great grandchildren and a host of loved ones and friends.
