Calvenua Parish, 72,  passed away on February 16, 2022. She was born on January 7, 1950, in Yantley, Alabama, to the late Dempsey and Para Lee Gaines. In 1953, she moved to Akron, Ohio with her family. Calvenua went by the nickname, Nuchie, which was given to her by her eldest beloved sister, Carylon. She attended Robinson Elementary, Goodyear Middle School, ad East High School, graduating in 1968. She worked and eventually retired from Phoenix Residential Homes. From the age of 12, she has been doing press and curls for men and women throughout all of Akron and beyond, which leads to why she has so many loyal cherished friends and extended family. She was the best at what she did, right beside her older sister Patricia Smith.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Dempsey and Para Lee Gaines; infant brother, Joseph Gaines; sister, Doris Graham; and brother, James Gaines. She will always be deeply missed by her best freind and husband, Lucius Parish, whom she would do anything for within their 53 years relationship; children, Yvette (Bradley) Hopson, and Regii Lampley; sisters, Carylon (Milton) Johnson, and Patricia (William) Smith; special cousin, Sam (Geraldine) Traylor; grandchildren, Cierra and Aaron Byrd, and Christian Lampley; nieces, Nadja Smith, Chandra Salaam, Sheana Graham, Iris Warren; nephews, William Smith, William Cherry, John Graham, Ramone Patterson, Christopher Johnson, James and Brandon Gaines, Alex and Frank Owens, Elliot James Cherry ,Ricardo Hunt; stepchildren, Michael Parish, Carlos Parish, Tameka Singleterry, Carmen Teague; daughters in heart, Linda Daniels, Yolanda Dunn, Lisa and Jackie Moore, Michelle Riggins, Nicole Goins; son in heart, Andrew Parish; special friends Marva Christian, Carolyn Jimmerson, Mary Prude, and a host of friends and family.
