Bobie Jean
Seymour
March 22, 1943 – August 8, 2024
Bobie Jean Seymour passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2024 at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Canton, OH. Born March 22, 1943, she was the second of eight children blessed to Robert and Bertha Seymour.
Bobie graduated in 1961 from McKinley High School in Canton, OH. That summer, she entered into a long and prosperous career with the Federal Government. Employed by Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH, after much training and education, she became the first black female Industrial Specialist at the Aeronautical Systems Division at Wright Patterson. She earned many awards and promotions during her career as Industrial Specialist GS12; and retired from that position in 1966. During her career, she had two children, Joanita and Javis; and two grandchildren whom she adored. Bobie was devastated to lose her daughter at age 16 to cancer. She moved on with much love from her family; especially her Dayton family, whom she loved dearly.
Bobie enjoyed good music and loved to cook. She was always doing food for somebody's funeral or birthday, graduation or family gathering; and she tried to feed everyone! She was always helping friends and family no matter the time or cost. Throughout her life, she had such a caring and good heart. She was loving, kind and generous to all she knew; and this is the legacy she leaves behind.
Along with her parents, she is preceded by her daughter, Joanita Seymour; brother, Rodney Seymour; friend/sister, Helen Jackson; brother-in-law, Woody Johnson; nephews, Kenneth Massey and Joseph Moore. Leaving to cherish her memory areher son, Javis Seymour; granddaughter, Dashelle Seymour of Dayton, OH; grandson, Timothy May of Columbus, OH; sisters, Bertha (Warren) Baber, Patricia (Kenneth) Massey, Carol Johnson, Brenda Seymour of Columbus, OH, Shirley (Benjamin) Tutt of Philadelphia, PA; brother, Ralph (Jacqueline) Seymour; uncle, Raymond Borom of Akron, OH; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
