Billie
Caldwell
January 26, 1931 – June 5, 2021
Billie Odessa Terrell was born to the union of Jordan Sr. and Odessa Terrell on January 26, 1931. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sibling, and friend to many. Billie was the last surviving of seven siblings and she went home to meet her Savior on June 5th, 2021.
Billie attended Akron Public Schools, graduating from South High School in 1949. She worked for many years in the food service department for her alma mater. She also worked for Oneil's Department store for a number of years while managing the family business as well.
Billie met Wentford Caldwell and the two fell in love and were wed on February 7, 1953. To their union were born three children Vicki, Stephen, and Scott. Billie was a very loving and caring mother who sacrificed much for her family. She also cared for the children of her siblings as they faced life's many hurdles. She willingly accepted the role of matriarch after the passing of her mother. Billie became a true strength for both her immediate and extended family, a tie that bound everyone together.
Billie was a long standing member of the House of the Lord for decades where she enjoyed both seniors class and the church choir.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Jordan Sr. and Odessa Terrell, husband Wentford, sons, Stephen and Scott, one sister, Geraldine, and 5 brothers: Jordan Jr., Wilbur, Donald, and the twins, Ronald and Richard.
Billie leaves to grieve her loss, her daughter Vicki (Arthur) Grant who worked tirelessly caring for her as her health declined.
Billie will be truly missed by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews along with other relatives and friends. Three special lifetime friends who were her constant support, Virginia Cooper, Lois Clayton and Bernestine Edwards also grieve her absence.
