Beverly Ann Gainer, age 65 departed this life on Friday May 12, 2017 after a brief illness with her mother Margaret, brother Doug, sister Cherie, brother-in-law Maurice, niece Janese, sister/best friend Chris Smith and other close friends and family members Mary/Henry Ash, Odette Martin, Tom Mathis, and Carrilyn Long by her side. Beverly was born August 22, 1951 in Niagara Falls N.Y.  She moved to Canton in 1953. Bev was   preceded in death by her Father Frank Johnson, sister Mikaela Threasa Parker, grandmother  Gertrude Howard-Redrick and grandfather Abe (Edge Nora) Redrick. Beverly accepted Christ at an early age and attended Greater Jerusalem currently Mt. Olive     Baptist Church.  Beverly was a current  active member of the House of the Lord in Akron, Ohio. Beverly attended Canton City Schools and graduated from Canton McKinley High School in 1969.  Beverly was employed and retired from the Hoover Company after 35 years.  Thereafter, Beverly was employed at A Difference in Dining Catering , and also at Stark State College as a Community outreach specialists at the Canton Urban League Campus- Edward "Peel" Coleman Center.         Beverly was also the Assistant Director at the Urban Education Center, in Canton, Ohio.               Additionally, Beverly served as Manager and Director of Chris' Talk of the Town Inc. for 37 years.  Beverly was a member of the Stark County African American Professional Women's Association, as well as, a former member of the Canton Negro Old Timers Ladies Auxiliary. In her early years Beverly loved to play sports especially volleyball, softball, and tennis.  She also loved to watch and go to football and basketball games.  Beverly also loved line dancing and was the first to have line-dancing classes in Canton, Ohio at the Old Timers Club.  One of Beverly's     favorite past times was creating and designing things on the computer.  Beverly thoroughly       enjoyed designing cards, invitations, pictures, signs, and posters as she was extremely creative.  Additionally, Beverly enjoyed attending and serving at her church, The House of the Lord,           especially serving with the Coffee Connection and Hospitality Ministry as she was known to serve and always lend a helping hand.  Another one of Beverly's favorite past times was shopping.  She loved to shop for herself but she really enjoyed shopping for others.  With her affectionate smile and laugh, it was her wit, and fun loving ways that always made Beverly the life of the party whether it was a large gathering or just a few. Beverly leaves to cherish her memory her dedicated mother Margaret Johnson; brother, Frank Douglas Johnson; sister, Cherie M. Johnson-Clark (Elder Maurice Clark); brother, Michael (Lynda) Parker; her canine dachshund brother, Benson Johnson; sister and best friend of 52 years Chris Smith; nephews, Michael Christian (Julie) Parker, Matthew (Anitra) Parker, Mordecai (Brittney) Parker, Maurice Duron Clark, Frank Elijah Johnson; nieces, Janese Adams, Amber Clark, Zabrina Johnson, and Mikaela Johnson; great nieces and nephews, Miya Powell, Matthew "BoBo" Parker, Miracle Clark, Zyaire Johnson, Makayla Parker, Mulan Parker, Morgan Parker, and Malaki Clark; God Children- Rhonda (Ross) Weems, and Jason Hawkins; extended close friends/family members, Carrilyn "Bunny" Long, Sue Valentine, Doris Smoots, Daisy Suggs, Fran Pugh, Dennis Stone, Billy/Mauricia Patterson, Ms. Gladys of Niagara Falls N.Y.; special cousins, Marvin (Kim) Johnson, and Henry and Mary Ash, in addition to a host of other aunts, relatives and friends too numerous to name.
