Betty Sue Simmons, 83 of Canton, Ohio, received her heavenly wings on Saturday, March 12, 2022.  She was born to the late Sam and Velma (Bell) Prather on June 18, 1938 in Corinth, Mississippi.

Betty was a devoted wife of the late James Simmons for 59 years, and a loving mother of 3 boys whom she loved dearly.

Betty Sue graduated from Corinth High School, but resided in Canton, Ohio most of her life with her family and friends.  She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Canton, Ohio.  Betty was employed with Aultman Medical Center in the central surgical processing department, where she retired after many dedicated years of service.  She enjoyed spending countless hours with her family and friends.  Her most enjoyable pastimes were cooking, sewing, crafting, and spending time with the flower and garden club.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James Simmons; siblings, John Lee Prather, Nat Prather, Sam Prather, Bernice Prather-Barnett, and Mary Prather-Maze.

She leaves to cherish her memories: (3) sons, Marshall Simmons of Canton, Ohio, Willie Jean (Karen) Simmons of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Virgil (Kimberly) Simmons of Uniontown, Ohio; (2) sisters, Virginia Heidelberg and Elsie (Charles) Beverly; (2) sisters-in-law, Alice Prather of Canton, Ohio, and Theresa Prather of Cleveland, Ohio; (4) grandchildren, Zarrya Simmons and Tanica Hamilton of Uniontown, Ohio, Marchell Hall and Brentin Adams of Cleveland, Ohio, as well as a host of great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
