Betty Jean Taylor Pettaway, 73, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 27, 2024, at Summa Akron City Hospital surrounded by family and friends. She was born on July 7, 1950 in Akron, Ohio to the late Wesley and Dorothy Taylor and has lived in this community all her life. Betty was an exceptional Seamstress and was previously employed as the Head Seamstress for Pettaway Upholstery and Interior Design for which she and her late husband, Laymon Pettaway Jr., owned and operated. Her nephew Darnell Taylor worked side by side with them. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Dorothy Taylor, two brothers, Eddie (T-Bone) Taylor, and Isaiah (Cheryl) Taylor, sister, Ruby Woolridge and other close aunts, uncles and cousins. Betty is survived by daughter, Felicia (Emmanuel) McCall of Cleveland, Ohio three grandchildren, Jarvis and Jessica McCall of Akron, Ohio and Destiny McCall of Cleveland, Ohio. Brothers, Wesley Taylor, and Tommy (Lynnett) Taylor of Akron, Ohio, sisters, Rebecca James and Janet Taylor Skinner both of Akron, Ohio, three stepchildren, Andre Wright, Todd Wilson, and Tina Walker all of Akron, Ohio. Her very close partner/friend Marvin Allison of Elyria, Ohio, childhood, friend/sister Loretta Spencer of Akron, Ohio, close friend/Pastor Donzella Rogers and a host of nieces, nephews that she loved and adored.
