Barbara A.
Richardson
January 30, 1948 – February 13, 2024
Her Life Legacy Barbara Ann Richardson, affectionately known as "Barb and Big Mom" was born on January 30, 1948. She was the eldest child of five, born to the Late James and Olive Morris. A lifelong resident of Akron, Ohio, she attended South High School. Barbara accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church. She met and married the Late James Richardson and to this union, 3 children were born. In 2020, they celebrated 56 years of wedded bliss. Barbara was a dedicated member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she joyfully served as President of the Greeter's Ministry. She was a strong matriarch of the family and committed to blessing her children, grandchildren and great-grand children. She retired after 34 years from Norton Company, now Saint-Gobain. She spent the remainder of her retirement years on family cruises and vacations with her children, grandchildren and great-grand children as she learned the new experience of traveling in fancy Airbnb's. She was brutally honest, while at the same time loving and caring. From a simple ask, Barb would go above and beyond for family and friends, with no strings attached. She took an active role in blessing and serving her large family. In the early 1980's, she was a head coach for West Pee Wee Cheerleading team. Taking her lead, her daughters continued as junior coaches with the West Pee Wee Association. She supported her grandsons and traveled around the USA with the Shooting Stars AAU Basketball team. Her favorite pastime was visiting local Casinos, she never hid it and invited family and friends to join in on her "Casino therapy." She enjoyed holiday cooking for her family. Everyone requested her delicious pound cake, a recipe passed down from the matriarch of the Richardson family. She enjoyed shopping and attending community functions, often serving as head greeter.
