Anthony
Greene
January 18, 1957 – April 14, 2023
Anthony Greene was born January 18th, 1957 in Barberton, Ohio, the youngest of three boys born to the late great Mable McNair. He grew up in the Barberton school system, playing football and baseball in his earlier years, and as a member of the track and wrestling teams during his time at Barberton High School. Graduating in 1975, Tony enlisted in the Army where he served proudly in active duty from 1975 to 1978, as well as the Army Reserves for an additional 20 years earning the rank of Sergeant along the way.
Tony was a huge music enthusiast. He loved his jazz, but Michael Jackson, Lionel Ritchie and Stevie Wonder were his all-time favorite artists. He was an avid sports fan also. He rooted for his local Cleveland Browns, Cavs and Indians, but his favorite team by far was the San Francico 49ers, Jerry Rice being his favorite player. One of Tony's favorite hobbies was driving. He would always take the scenic route wherever he went, and he always cruised ... never in a rush. In fact, he was last employed at American Shipping and Packing (ASAP) Inc. as a driver, traveling across the country for a number of years until his retirement during the pandemic.
Tony was called home to be with the Lord Friday, April 14th 2023 at the Cleveland Clinic Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his mother Mabel McNair, along with his brother Frank McNair.
He was survived by his sons, Andre Vaughn and Sean Greene both of Akron, Ohio; granddaughters, Adaya Nicole Vaughn and Ariana Rachelle Vaughn; brother, Robert (Carina) McNair; niece, Eufemia McNair; nephews, Jerome and Christopher McNair all of Jacksonville Florida, his dearest friends, Euly Roberts of Akron, Ohio, Tony Welch of Barberton, Ohio and Calvin Wade of Cleveland Ohio; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
