Annie Ruth was born November 3, 1920, in Hughes, Arkansas to David and Classia Burns. The family moved to Blytheville, Arkansas where she was raised and attended school in the Blytheville school system. She met and married Hezekiah Lenzy. They were married on December 25, 1937. To this union 18 children were born; six died in infancy. They raised 12 children. They were married 67 wonderful years until his passing in 2005. Annie Ruth was blessed to live to see six generations. During World War II, she was a civilian worker for the Red Cross providing meals and ironing shirts for the military personnel. Annie Ruth was employed with Martin Pastry in Canton, Ohio for 17 years and was engaged in community work including volunteering and providing childcare services to many neighbors, friends, and family. Mother Annie Ruth Lenzy was saved, sanctified, baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost. She began her walk with the Lord over 75 years ago at the Northeast Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Superintendent Flanders Gillems, she was the Sunday School teacher for the Card Class. The church relocated to its present location and the name was changed to God Given Church of God in Christ. After the death of Superintendent Flander Gillems she joined Morgan Temple Church of God in Christ, which later changed to Paradise Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Elder Perry Morgan, Sr. She continued to serve the ministry as a Church Mother, Missionary, Sunday School teacher, Prayer and Bible Band teacher and a Prayer Warrior. After the death of Elder Perry Morgan Sr., she returned home to God Given Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Administrative Assistant Ace Gillems until her death. She loved to cook, bake, read her bible, exercise, do crossword puzzles, feed the birds and watch her daily Christian programs. She always made sure there was ice cream in the freezer for her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren whom she loved dearly; she got great joy in seeing them. During her 100th birthday celebration, she received a Proclamation from the 46th President of the United States of America, Joesph R. Biden. She was a Godly example to her community. She was honored on April 26, 2024, at the Ohio Association of Minister's Wives and Minister's Widows Annual State Convention. On August 13, 2024, she heard the voice of the Lord say it is time to come home to take your rest. You have fought a good fight, you have finished your course, you have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for you a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give. Well done thy good and faithful servant. Well done. She was preceded in death by her parents David and Classia Burns, husband Hezekiah Lenzy, sons Robert Lee Lenzy Sr., Eddie Lee Lenzy Sr., Johnny B. Lenzy, James Earl Lenzy, and daughter Annie Jewell Lenzy. She leaves to cherish her memories 9 children: Melvin (Wanda) Lenzy of Canton, Ohio, Maxine (Elder Perry) Morgan of Southfield, Michigan, John (Robin) Lenzy, Elizabeth Lenzy, Rose Ann Lenzy all of Canton, Ohio, Jo- Ann Lenzy of Indianapolis, Indiana, Charles Edward (Felichia) Lenzy of Fairfield Township, Ohio, Paulette Renée Lenzy of West Orange, New Jersey, and Pauline Denise Crockett of Chillicothe, Ohio. 18 grandchildren: Barbara Jean Lenzy, Michael Lenzy, Regina Lenzy all of Canton, Ohio, Robert Lee Lenzy, Jr. of Countryside, Illinois, Tammy Jo Lenzy of Chicago, Illinois, Cassandra Boston (Tacuma) Alexander, Robert Karon Boston, Paris Owens all of Akron, Ohio, Angelina ("Angie") Womack of Canton, Ohio, Edward (Kimberly) Lenzy of Massillon, Ohio. Gwendolyn Lenzy of Jacksonville, Florida, Tabatha Summons (Kenny) Jones of Atlanta, Georgia, Keisha Reese, James Edward Lenzy, Rasheid Lenzy all of Canton, Ohio, Melvin Claude (Andrea) Lenzy of McKinney, Texas, Cherjanét Lenzy of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Fatima Bodrick of Fairfield Township, Ohio. 49 great grandchildren, 49 great-great grandchildren, 2 great-great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren: Michael Long, Sterling ("Frail") Miller Jr., Chuck Zollicoffer, extended family and friends, and the God Given Church of God in Christ church family.
