Angela D
Ferguson
July 30, 1953 – March 11, 2026
A Life Well Lived, A Legacy of Love Angela D. Ferguson, affectionately known to many as "Ms. Ann" and "Angic," was born on July 30, 1953, in Sparta, Georgia, to the late Sam Harris and Lillian Fraizer. From the very beginning, Ann's life was marked by strength, warmth, and an unmistakable light that would touch countless lives along her journey.
On March 11, 2026, surrounded by the love she so freely gave, Ann answered the call from her Heavenly Father. Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that she has entered into eternal rest.
Ann later relocated to Akron, Ohio, with her mother, where she attended Akron Public Schools.
She graduated from Hower High School in 1970, completing the cosmetology program. Even as a young woman, Ann possessed a creative spirit and a natural ability to connect with people. Her warmth and personality made her unforgettable wherever she went.
Her roots in both Georgia and Ohio shaped her resilient character - strong Southern values blended with Midwestern determination.
Ann eventually returned to Georgia, where she met Thomas E. Henderson Jr. In June of 1973, they professed their love for one another, beginning a chapter that would forever change her life.
On March 2, 1975, Ann welcomed her precious baby girl into the world — her pride, her joy, and her greatest accomplishment.
Family meant everything to Ann. She loved deeply and wholeheartedly. Whether it was cheering on her grandchildren, hosting family gatherings, or simply sitting and talking for hours, she cherished every moment spent with those she loved. Her home was always filled with laughter, music, and good food.
During the summer of 1986, Ann met James E. "Mickey" Ferguson. Their bond grew strong, and in 1996 they were united in marriage. Together, they operated a trucking company, building not only a business but a partnership rooted in commitment and shared dreams. Mickey was her companion and friend, and together they built years of memories.
Ann had a servant's heart. She worked as a nurse at Western Reserve Hospital and later retired from Black Clinic. Caring for others was not just a profession — it was her calling. She had a natural gift for comforting, encouraging, and advocating for those in need. Many remember her gentle hands, reassuring words, and compassionate spirit.
Her work reflected who she was at her core — nurturing, dependable, and selfless.
Ann loved the Lord. Her faith anchored her life and guided her steps. She was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church until her illness. Within the church, she served faithfully on the choir and the Culinary Committee and was always known as a willing worker.
If something needed to be done, Ann was there. If someone needed encouragement, Ann showed up. Her presence in the church was not quiet — it was active, joyful, and committed.
Her praise was sincere. Her prayers were heartfelt. Her service was unwavering.
Ann loved to have fun. She loved music - the kind that made you tap your feet and move your shoulders. She loved to sing, dance, and laugh loudly. Bingo nights were serious business, and she enjoyed every minute of it.
She had a way of making others feel welcome. She told it like it was, loved fiercely, and stood firmly for her family. Her smile could light up a room, and her strength could steady those around her.
She was truly one of a kind.
Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James "Mickey" Ferguson; her father, Sam Harris; her mother, Lillian Fraizer; her brother, Charles Fraizer; her sister, Peggy Washington; and her grandson, KShawn Dowdy.
Though she mourned their passing, we take comfort in knowing there was a joyful reunion in Heaven.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her only child, Koshi (Jermaine) Taylor; her brother, James (Agnes) Wingfield; her sister, Jeanette Pete; her grandson, Brandon Henderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
Her legacy lives on in every life she touched, every lesson she taught, and every memory she created.
Ann's life was a testimony of faith, love, resilience, and joy. She was a mother, grandmother, wife, sister, friend, nurse, church worker, and community presence. Most of all, she was love in action.
While we will miss her voice, her laughter, and her steady presence, we celebrate a life that was beautifully lived.
"Well done, thy good and faithful servant."
Rest well, Ms. Ann.
