Andre Scott's Obituary

Andre Scott, 63, of Greensboro, NC, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025. Born on July 2, 1962, in Akron, Ohio, to Louis Scott and Joanne Scott Mills, Andre was a man of great character, faith, and warmth. A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, great brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, he touched countless lives with his generosity, humor, and genuine spirit. His presence filled a room, his laughter lifted spirits, and his wisdom was a gift to everyone blessed to know him.

For more than 40 years, Andre poured his heart into landscaping, transforming ordinary places into works of beauty. He treated his craft as an art form, earning the Keep Akron Beautiful award four years in a row. Andre took pride not only in his work but also in the joy it brought others. A true Cleveland Browns fan, he could talk football for hours, sharing stories, and plenty of good debates. He also loved music, often singing and reminiscing with his family, creating memories of love and laughter that will be remembered for generations.

While Andre's passions were many, nothing compared to the love he had for his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Dr. Paulette Scott, with whom he shared 46 years of love, partnership, and unwavering commitment. Together they built a life rooted in faith, resilience, and joy. As a father, he was a steady guide, teaching his children the values of hard work, integrity, and compassion. As a grandfather, he was their biggest cheerleader, taking pride in each of their accomplishments and    showering them with unconditional love. As a great brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Andre's loyalty and kindness extended beyond his immediate family, creating bonds that will never be forgotten.

Andre is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dr. Paulette Scott; his children, Andre Lamont Scott, Joanna Voncile Travis (Darious Travis), and Donte Maurice Scott; and his eleven grandchildren, Breanna Lord (Robby Lord), Darious Travis Jr., Dariasia Travis, Darionna Travis, Darius Travis, Xavier Scott, Kevin Scott, Kaden Scott, Toriana Harris, Devin Harris, and Leo Scott. He also leaves behind his siblings, Steve Smith (Cecelia Smith) and their children Chris Smith and Shaquana Boyer, and Rhonda Scott and her children Rita Andrus (Rodney), Corey Mathews (Brittany), and Larry Belton; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who loved their uncle dearly. In addition, he will be deeply missed by cousins, extended family members, and many friends who considered him family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Scott and Joanne Scott Mills.

Andre's life was a living testimony of faith, love, and perseverance. He worked hard, gave selflessly, and loved deeply. His kind spirit, strong hands, and gentle heart will be missed beyond measure, but his legacy will live on forever in the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the memories he created as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord." -Matthew 25:23
