Andre Reed was born November 20, 1948, in Akron, Ohio to the late Sallie Roland and Walter Reed, Sr. He attended Akron Public Schools, graduating from South High School.

In 1967 he joined the U.S. Navy where he served until 1973. During his time in the Navy, he became a champion boxer, boxing was his passion. On September 7, 2003, he was inducted into the Summit County Hall of Fame Boxing Association. Andre worked for Alside of Akron for 17 years and then worked for Time Warner Cable for many years until he retired.

Andre is preceded in death by his father Walter Reed, Sr, Mother Sallie Roland, wife Roslyn Inez (Preston) Reed, brother Gerald (Rooster) Reed, sisters Eileen Morrow and Parthenia Woodard.

He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter Shannon (Thomas) Teague, sons Andre (Tywanna) Wynn, Sr, Andre Jamal (Valerie) Reed; brothers, Walter Reed, Jr, Austin (Butchie) Roland; 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family. Special friend Patricia Jones.
