Alfonso Pugh,
Jr.
February 9, 1960 – October 12, 2025
Alfonso Pugh Jr., 65, of Canton, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025. He made his arrival into the world on February 9, 1960, at Alliance City Hospital, born to Alfonso and Amanda Terrell Pugh. He was the beloved only brother among five sisters who affectionately called him "Pucky," while many others knew him as "Fonz". Intellectually curious and endlessly creative, Alfonso explored a wide range of passions, hobbies and careers throughout his life. His boisterous laughter could fill up the room, and he was known for his quick wit and his jokes. A talented artist and savvy businessman, he ran an auto repair shop and operated a hand-painted sign business, with his artwork displayed throughout his hometown of Alliance. He also drew portraits and painted wall murals, leaving his creative mark wherever he went. Alfonso was a graduate of Alliance High School and attended Mount Zion Baptist Church in his youth. He began painting cars at a young age and developed a passion for buying vehicles at auctions, restoring and selling them. His father introduced him to flying radio-control model airplanes, one of many hobbies Alfonso enjoyed. He was an avid fisherman who loved cooking large meals and caring for family. Alfonso loved every one of his children and grandchildren. After high school, Alfonso began working at American Steel Foundry in Alliance before working for the Timken Company where he specialized in computer-aided design (CAD). His entrepreneurial spirit eventually led him to start his own CAD business, creating technical drawings and blueprints for a variety of clients. Later, he moved to Canton, Ohio, where he made his home. Alfonso was preceded in death by his grandparents, Agnew Terrell and Julie "Vida" McElroy; parents, Alfonso and Amanda Terrell Pugh. He is survived by his partner in life, Turquoise Caffey; children, Crystal (Patrick), Amanda, Alfonso, Trenia (Da'Quan), Channing, Cherokee, Zion, Zia; his grandchildren; sisters, Teresa (James), Nina, Sheila, Lisa and Vickie; and a host of other family members and friends.
