Mrs. Willie Edna Freeman, 87 of Canton, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on September 15, 2017 in Aultman Hospital. Willie Edna was born the fifth child of Erbie and Edna Patton Sims in Greenville, Alabama. She was united in holy matrimony to Crosbie Freeman on September 9, 1952; and to this union were added two bundles of joy by the names of Jeffrey and Karen. Willie Edna graduated from Waynesburg Schools and she also attended Kent State University. She gave her life to the Lord at a young age during her membership at Macedonia Baptist Church. She grew up in Waynesburg and later moved to Canton where she became a faithful member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as the Church secretary until the age of the computers. Growing up she did Day work and also baby sat. She retired from the Timken Company after many long years. Whenever you went to visit Willie Edna, you could find her saying, “Come on in” and you could join her watching her favorite show “Sports”. Depending on the season, she would be watching The Lakers, the Browns, the Cleveland Indians or Federer, her favorite Tennis player who reminded her of Uncle Porter. She would say, “The Browns” will break your heart every time, but they were still her team. Willie Edna was beautiful inside and out, she loved life, she loved to travel and every year in July, she looked forward to attending “The Freeman Family Reunion” where she would get to see all of her Family, whom she loved so dearly. She was preceded in death by: her loving husband, her parents, as well as her siblings. Her life will forever be cherished in the lives of her family.
